MANAGING YOUR WRITTEN INVENTORY
There are two types of inventories here on Nova -- your written inventory and your site inventory.
Your written inventory includes items that may have come into your character's possession as they grew up or traveled Nova at the point of starting their roleplaying adventure. Your written inventory could include food, clothing, weapons, or other miscellaneous items that are worth noting and describing. You can create your written inventory by listing your character's possessions in this forum.
Your site inventory accumulates with what you purchase from our Item Shop, elementia essences that you find in your travels, or items of great magical power (known as Cast Items) received either as a reward or from a lucky stroke of Fate. Your site inventory does not require any sort of documentation or managing but if you wish to give a personalized description to any item you accumulate in your site inventory, you may do so here so long as you make note that you are describing a site item. For example, you can purchase a longsword from the shops and give it a personalized name and description by posting it in your written inventory thread. Site items are automatically considered to be masterwork crafts and are of the highest durability, strength, and craftsmanship.
We recommend that you link both your profile and inventory in the linking boxes provided when you edit your profile.
Keep in mind that the magic of Nova is beginning to run scarce -- items and people of magic are in danger to extremists that are trying to solve the mystery and possibly "harvest" what they can of what remains. Because of this, the magical items of the world are beginning to disappear from all knowledge and are becoming more artifacts than common possessions. It is rare that a person should obtain such an item, however...
AS THE HEROES (OR VILLAINS) OF NOVA, YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO START OFF WITH ITEMS OF POWER IF YOU WISH. This is not mandatory.
You may select ONE of the following options with your "normal" gear:
- One (1) magical weapon with ONE moderate ability or enchantment.
- One (1) magical items (anything larger than a human hand) with ONE moderate ability or enchantment.
- Two (2) miscellaneous magical trinkets (jewelry, rocks, gems, etcetera; no bigger than an average human palm in size) with MINOR enchantments or abilities.
For help on generating a magical item, try Seventh Sanctum's Magic Items generator.
Feel free to have whatever you want in your inventory -- though you can describe all of their possessions, be sure to identify what they are actually carrying with them when they are traveling or adventuring. You may have as many "normal" weapons and items as you please, but, as I said, be sure to identify which are actually on your person -- limit what you carry. Unless you're a Toreka, you're probably not going to be able to carry two great-axes. Metal will weigh you down significantly, so if you wear mail armor, it will be impossible for you to sneak around quietly, regardless of what material it is made of. If we see anything bizarre in your inventory, we will contact you about it -- especially overpowered weapons and armor.
When you visit the shops for the first time, you will be given an "Fenar" starting companion. In order to possess more animal companions, you must purchase them from the Item Shop in order to roleplay them.
Other magical items will come to you through roleplay.
