THE GODS
Nova's traditional pantheon of gods were once widely worshiped as the predominant faith structure in Nova. Since the advent of Alchemy, several factions have arisen that approach the pantheon in various manners.
Mylee, God of Creation and Life
In the beginning, when there were only the three primordial entities that later matured into the pantheon, Mylee was the body from which the universe was formed. Technically, although He is the father of the universe, he is no more powerful than his peers. His humanoid form is extremely handsome, with fair skin, waist-length white hair, and steel grey eyes. he is very tall and muscular, and tends to have a stern expression. He is almost always seen in a lavender or violet uniform, with the Book of Life at his side.
In mythology, there are many stories about his ongoing arguments with Zepon, his brother.
Creo, Goddess of Evil, Destruction, and Death
Creo is the Goddess that represents all evil in the world; her existence is crucial to the balance of the universe, which has been maintained since its birth. She has a single horn in her humanoid form, which she sheds every year. She is unusually beautiful; charcoal-skinned and voluptuous. Her hair is wild, shoulder-length, silver transitioning to crimson. Her eyes are crimson outlined in silver.
Creo achieved godhood from mortality by usurping Zepon, the pantheon's original God of Death.
Ai, Goddess of Love and Pleasure
Ai was worshiped mostly by men-before going into bars or events, Nova's youthful men say a short prayer to her in hopes of getting the most pleasure. Out of the entire pantheon, Ai is the most shockingly beautiful. Her skin, in human form, is whiter than milk, her hair is a long, ivory river, and her eyes are plaintive disks of silver. She is tall and curved like an hourglass. Her face is beyond any mortal man's desire and is always blissful.
In mythology, there are many stories about her ongoing love triangle with Mylee and Zepon, her lovers.
Vennessa, Goddess of Passion and Beauty
Vennessa is the most known in Nova-her beauty captured the hearts of nearly every mortal that laid eyes on her. In her humanoid form she is very attractive with cream skin, long, curly blonde hair, and sapphire eyes. She is of average height and slim, and is awayss seen wearing long, silky white cloth. However, she is at her happiest when wearing nothing at all, and is known to attract even the sternest of men with a blissful expression.
She was removed from the Realm of Heroes, shortly after the birth of the twin princes Sorrow and Pain, and was sent to live in Nova. She was brought back into the Realm of Heros shortly after her horrible murder by 8th King Noku Noru.
Saden, God of Knowledge
There is a shrine to Saden in almost every public library in the whole of Nova. Schoolchildren often say a prayer to him before important exams. In his humanoid form he is quite beautiful with tan skin, short, rippling black hair, and eyes of polished oak. He is of average height and hearty build, and has recently taken to looking very sad. He wears opulent robes dyed crimson.
Caster, Goddess of Chaos and Manna
Of all the pantheon, Caster is the least known, yet her beauty is never forgotten. Her skin is mocha, her hair long and lavender, and her eyes amethyst. She is tall, with a slim and slightly muscular build. Her face is emotionless and she wears a simple, long lavender dress. Caster is always seen near the White Oak.
She was exiled from the pantheon many years ago, shortly after the first magic users appeared on Nova. She now wanders the mortal realm, hiding from the eyes of men, using her powerful magic to conceal her presence. To see her is now considered an extremely bad omen, and talk of her in public is considered dangerous.
RELIGIONS
Followers of The Path
The Followers are, loosely put, cultist missionaries spreading their following as they travel. The Followers believe in Mylee as the only true God, and therefore are prone to avoid or persecute individuals alining with other deities. They are especially apprehensive of Magick, and tend to cling to Alchemy as justification of their faith. Though not officially affiliated, the barracks of the Rose Court are predominantly filled by Followers, being as their faith brings a stricter dedication.
The Awakened Eye
Members of the Eye pay homage to Saden, but only as a posterity. Truthfully, an Awakened worships the concept of Saden-mastery of knowledge-and places little stock in outdated concepts like deities and Magick. Many Awakened occupy the halls of the Alchemist's Guild as well as the ranks of aristocracy, though hospitals and machinist shops usually house a few members as well. Followers of the eye sometimes keep an object with the insignia of Saden's book with the Eye of Saden on the front cover as a token of both homage and personal dedication.
Nova's Fortune or "The Fortunae"
The Fortunae call themselves enlightened in respect to other faiths, having abandoned the pantheon in favor of nature worship. Predominantly Woodling, Freya, and human, they use little technology and even engage in some rudimentary Magick that is ritual-based. Often the focus of aggression and criticism from both political and spiritual factions, the Fortunae are known to seclude themselves either intermittently or regularly and for extended periods of time. More devout followers bear the mark of the Leaf and Scroll on their chest or carry the symbol as a trinket on their travel pack.
The Seylen
Almost strictly a Demori faith, the Seylen worship Creo, Mother of all Demori. Seylen shrines depict Creo in her transformed state surrounded by slain foes of all races. Most Demori acknowledge Creo even if they do not claim to be Seylen, and all major Demori Houses practice the Seylen sacraments. The Seylen not only demand adherance to ritual sacrament, but also require expression of brutality or disregard for fragile life from their members. Those within the Seylen not deemed strong or ruthless enough are often cast out after being ritually marred to guarantee rejection from all shrines.
Ai's Covenant
The Covenant normally is attended by the Freya, being that it represents Ai's physical qualities of beauty, passion, and fulfillment. The Covenant seeks to establish harmony amongst its members and their communities, though some sects have initiated this as a holy war, especially against the Demori. Covenant members are typically known by their soft demeanor and their generosity. This faction is responsible for many of the charities in Nova. Devout worshipers often mark themselves with an image of a blind Seraphim in various depictions. Such a symbol is generally not carried as an object.
House of Agnos
Less of a faith than a label, a Novarian claiming not to follow a faith or not sharing the beliefs of the prevailing factions is said to be "of the House of Agnos." All races are represented by this faction, and most within it do not use the label to describe themselves.
